Innovative Ideas driven by technology

A recent trip to China proves that technology is evolving faster than we can even imagine.

In Hangzhou, the whole city was completely cashless. We walked into a grocery store and weren't able to pay with cash. Regardless of age or gender, this whole city paid using their mobile phone. No matter what store we went to, even the markets, you paid using your mobile phone.

In the hotels, we'd tap our hotel key and it would auto select our floor.

For coffee, we were the only people who stood in line. Why? All coffee orders were preordered via an app. So when you came to "order" all you had to do was pick it up.

What we found while travelling around is that the Chinese have always thought about how their surroundings have had an impact on the community. For example, the buildings have dragons on the roof top. The more dragons, the more important the building. This forward thinking allowed all who entered villages to know where to go for specific things.

What aspects of private practice can you start to integrate technology to provide a smoother transition for your clients?

Exercise: I'd like you to write down a list of things in your daily life that make your life easier. Think about things you're doing now that you didn't do 1, 5, 10 years ago. Think about things that you aren't doing now that others may have started to integrate in their lives. What are the reasons you aren't using the tools and technology. Then write a list of the things in your client's journey that are time consuming, boring, or just plain repetitive. How can those things become tasks you don't have to think about any more? Even if the technology for it is too expensive or not yet invented, what would your dream automated practice look like? Let us know, by replying to this email. We'd love to hear your thoughts.
