Private Practice Innovation: Using Tablets

Writer's picture: Natasha AceNatasha Ace

How much time do you spend writing your case notes into a practice management system after the client has left? How much time do you spend collecting payments from clients? Do you avoid using a practice management system because of the time it takes to do things?

Case notes

Do you know that both* Power Diary and Coreplus allow you to write directly into the client file using a smart pencil? By using a tablet, you can write your notes in session with your client instead of using a notebook or waiting until the end of session.

Booking Appointments

Most systems allow your clients to book online using an online booking portal. Unlike Health Engine, the service is free within your own practice management system. If you have a tablet in the waiting room, clients can rebook their appointments after session.

Payment Collection

Well, this can be done on a tablet as well, you can have the client make their payment and then rebook their appointment by providing a link to your booking portal after payment is made. See sample here. Our sample payment collection (while you can't actually submit because we have chosen not to let you) allows for you to send autogenerated emails to the client after wards.

So tell me why you don't have a tablet in your practice for all of your clinicians by now?

*both allow you to upload a blank sheet and write your notes in the "drawing" section of the case notes.
