It is not easy building a practice. You're in this alone. No matter what kind of supports you have, at the end of the day, it's you and you alone. What happens when you are reaching burnout? When you no long want to do the work you choose to do. What happens when your children grow up without you? Your dog plays ball by himself? You no longer like ANY of your clients. And the only thing you can think about is the holiday that never comes?
Change will NOT happen unless you make time for it. Let me be honest, I'm not a parent (well, I'm a fur mom), but everyone tells me even if you're not ready for it, do it anyway. The right things will happen all in due time and things will fall into place.
Ummm - that might be the case, for some. But in all honesty, I see my friends and family struggling from one moment to the next. Feeling guilty if they aren't there, wishing they had more time. Working, maintaining a family and having time for yourself just DOESN'T happen.
While I'm not a parent, I'm also not a huge planner. I like to see the big broad strokes of the end game, but I love to have the ability to fall into any path life takes us.
With that said, I'm extremely goal oriented. I'm driven by outcomes and measures. In order to understand where I've come from, we have to establish a baseline.
If you are struggling to keep up, or burning out, or just plain tired of private practice; this can change. Will you make seven figures doing it? Possibly. Can you do it within the ten bulk bill sessions that Medicare allocates? Sure.
However, it will never get done without planning and support. Join a community that gets it. Join a community that doesn't judge and doesn't hold all of the business secrets close to their chest.
